Celebrating World Smile *Month*!

World Smile Day is Friday, Oct. 2 – but Student Programs has so many fun activities lined up, we decided to make it World Smile Month! Here are all the fun ways you and your club can get involved with Operation Smile and make a difference in the lives of children around the world, all October long.

Create a Smile Fund!

For just as little as $240, you and your club could change someone’s life. Here’s how.

It’s estimated that a child is born with a cleft every three minutes. And as Operation Smile’s international medical missions have been postponed due to COVID-19, this means that even more people are going to need our help when programs get started again.

You can help us help them through our National Leadership Council’s Smile Fund campaign. Kicking off on World Smile Day, Oct. 2, we hope all Operation Smile clubs will make a Smile Fund page and use it for fundraising throughout the school year. As each surgery can cost as little as $240, our goal is to try and get all U.S. high school clubs to participate and make more smiles possible.

Put the ‘Fun’ in ‘Fundraisers’!

We know, fundraisers are looking a little different this year. But that’s the thing about Operation Smile and our global family — we always find a way to help others, no matter the circumstances!

We’ve pulled together a handful of ideas for virtual fundraisers (which will definitely go a long way in supporting your Smile Fund!) for you to consider. From virtual 5Ks to putting the “Zoom” in Zumba, you’ve got a lot of ways to put the “fun” in “fundraisers”!

Join us for ‘Around the World’ Wednesdays!

Featuring Operation Smile Student Volunteers, one story — and one smile! — at a time.

We love our global family, and our “Around the World” conversations are sure to spread smiles all around the world! Every week, we’ll host two longtime student volunteers from different continents as they chat about how they’ve helped to change lives through Operation Smile and how the organization has changed their own.

Chip In for Operation Smile!

Snap a photo with a Lay’s Smile Bag supporting Operation Smile and you could win a Swag Bag from Student Programs!

Chip in to help Operation Smile and Lay’s spread smiles! With every purchase of a specially designed smile bag, Lay’s will donate a portion of the sales to our cause. (Up to $1 million!)

Every “Chip In Tuesday” from Sept. 22 to Oct.  20, we’ll post a photo of one of our volunteers posing with a Lay’s smile bag. If your photo is chosen, you’ll receive an Operation Smile swag bag complete with a T-shirt, sticker, mini frisbee, ball and more!

Meet Lam of Vietnam!

This conversation is the first in Student Programs’ ‘My Story’ series.

At 10 a.m. ET on Sunday, Oct. 25, we’ll chat with Lam from Vietnam. Born with a cleft, Lam now works as a program coordinator for Operation Smile Vietnam. Join us on Zoom and listen as Lam shares his story with us.

Grow Your Operation Smile Club!

Learn from the pros as our longtime volunteers share their tips for club success.

As part of the Speaker Series put together by our National Leadership Council, at 4 p.m. ET on Oct. 18, a panel of club leaders from around the U.S. will discuss ways to build up your club.

Zoom meeting details will be shared soon!
