Operation Smile + Families4Families

FEED FAMILIES IN HAMPTON ROADS

No family facing a job loss or health scare should have to worry about groceries. That’s why Operation Smile Student Programs is collecting donations to provide meal kits for Hampton Roads families hard hit by the COVID-19 pandemic. As part of our 2021 Spread the Love campaign, we’re making a special door-to-door delivery of what we’re calling a “bag of basics.” These meal kits are filled with fruits, veggies, meats and grains that should feed a family of four for a week.

This program evolved from our Serving Smiles effort, where we’ve provided more than 6,300 meals to hospitals in 12 states across the U.S., as well as in Panama and Paraguay.

Thanks to our students and supporters for making this possible!

Inspired by her cousin’s Families4Families effort in the District-Maryland-Virginia region of the U.S., Student Programs Founder Brigette Magee Clifford is taking our Serving Smiles effort to the next level by providing meal kits to families hit hard by COVID-19 in Hampton Roads, Virginia. Each meal kit costs about $100 and provides a family of four with meals for a week.

How you can help: We’re rallying our Hampton Roads community to help us provide these needed groceries. You can sign up to provide a “bag of basics,” complete with fruits, veggies, meats and grains, which will feed a family of four for a week. If you’re a student, you can sign up to help our Student Programs team make deliveries to families all while wearing masks and maintaining social distance.
