PEACE MISSION: FOR HEALTH & HAPPINESS

Thank you again for your patience as Operation Smile Student Programs continues to keep an eye on the developing situation of COVID-19.

Due to the rapidly changing situation, Operation Smile Student Programs has put a hold on acceptances for the 2020 Peace Mission Program. However, we remain hopeful that two teams will still be able to travel to Panama and Guatemala this summer.

Our applicant pool is very strong given the many years your children have been engaged with the organization. We thank you for believing in our mission to grant the gift of a surgery to many deserving children across the globe.

Thank for your patience throughout this process. We will be back in touch by April 6th, to update you on the status of the Peace Mission Program.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns.

For some encouragement during this time please see the video below.

The Peace Mission program serves to educate and inspire compassionate students who desire to understand and improve the world around them with Operation Smile as the vehicle. Employing an interdisciplinary approach that extends beyond the classroom, selected students will work alongside Operation Smile staff and volunteers to explore relevant educational, health, and environmental issues that take place in areas of Central America.

Accepted candidates will be assigned either Panama or Guatemala by the review committee.

**Please note that only rising ninth-grade students from Hampton Roads may apply for admission, and two years of Spanish is preferred, but not mandatory.**

Applicants that demonstrate active involvement in Operation Smile activities within your school and/or community will be considered for this program.
