Sending Hope 2

When the world locked down, Operation Smile Student Programs stepped up.

First, we teamed up with local restaurants to feed and fuel thousands of hospital workers across the United States, Paraguay and Panama. Then, we turned to families hard hit by the COVID-19 pandemic and provided them with more than 20,000 meals.

Now, we’re tending to our youngest patients in Nicaragua, Guatemala and Panama by sending care packages with everything to keep them healthy – from food bungles to facemasks to cloth diapers.

Really, we’re Sending Hope.

Operation Smile’s global network of student advocates is working together to rally supplies and donations to ensure our patients have everything they need to make the best of these challenging times. Critically, we’re hoping that the food we send them will help keep potential patients healthy enough to receive surgery, when it comes time.

And we need your help.

How Sending Hope Works

Our goal for these packages is to address two fundamental needs of our patients: hygiene products and nutrition.

Without access to these important resources, many patients could fall ill or be malnourished – which means it could be too dangerous for them to undergo the surgical care they desperately need.

And How You Can Help

Your first step will be to join your team of student volunteers. We created teams by location, so look for your country or region to determine your squad.

Team Guatemala: Students from Guatemala as well as Virginia and the Western region of the U.S. will be working together to help families in Guatemala!

Team Nicaragua: Students from Nicaragua and Italy will be working together to help families in Nicaragua!

Team Panama: Students from Panama as well as the Northern and Southern regions of the U.S., will be working together to help families in Panama!
